From July 21 to 25, 2025, the EMINENT Summer School was hosted at the Center for Sensor Systems (ZESS) at the University of Siegen, marking the end of the second semester of the joint master’s degree programme.
The five participating universities – University of Siegen (Germany), Université d’Orléans (France), NOVA University Lisbon (Portugal), VILNIUS TECH (Lithuania), and the Hellenic Mediterranean University (Greece) – alongside their local industry partners, contributed to an exciting week full of academic insights, international exchange, and professional development.
The programme featured (online) expert talks on topics such as nanometrology, robotics, AI, biosensors, and micro/nanomachining, as well as mentoring, feedback on their Professional Design Experience Projects (PEPs), and the presentation of potential master’s thesis topics for the EMINENT students.
Some highlights also included a guided tour of the new INCYTE research building, which offered an exclusive preview of Siegen’s future high-tech labs, and a visit to SUMMIT, a headquarter for high-tech and IT companies in Siegen. Students could exclusively explore the labs of pmdtechnologies ag, gaining real-world perspectives on sensor development, and had the chance to listen to two start-up pitches.
The week concluded with a career development workshop that helped students define their goals and build effective tools for their professional journey, as well as with a relaxed farewell BBQ, offering space for informal exchange and reflection in a cheerful atmosphere.
